Abstract

The project will demonstrate the feasibility of producing high performance copper hearths that are used in titanium casting, using 3D printing tech. The hearths must be made using highly purified copper. All hearths must be helium leak tested prior to shipping. We will design and construct a helium leak test specimen. RPI will be primarily responsible for developing the process parameters to enable WAAM using copper.
